Just Thought I would post this, kinda in response to myself. I'm really disappointed at the republicans that choose not to go to the debate hosted by Tavis Smiley. Tavis Smiley is looked up to in the black community and I think that his forum is a great opportunity for our party to get our message out to the black community. I'm predicting that many African Americans will like Mike Huckabee.
the following is from the
National Black Republican Association.Democrat presidential candidates refused to participate in the Congressional Black Caucus Debate in Detroit
By Frances Rice
Democratic Party operatives are busily
creating a wave of anger in the black community over the fact that
Republican presidential candidates do not want to participate in a
debate hosted by liberal Democrat Tavis Smiley. Yet, not a word was
said when the Democrat presidential candidates refused to participate
in a debate that was to be hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus in
Detroit. The hypocrisy and double standard are astonishing.
The rallying cry is "Republicans don't care
about the issues affecting poor blacks." Yet none of these people who
claim to care so much about poor blacks issued one word of condemnation
when both Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama voted against the
minimum wage bill, despite the fact that the Democrats used minimum
wage as a wedge issue during the 2006 election.
Equally hypocritical is the lack of outrage
about the fact that the Democrats in Congress are blocking reform of
Social Security, even though black people, on average, loose $10,000 in
the current system because blacks, on average, have a five-year shorter
life expectancy. No anger is expressed over the fact that Democrats
are also blocking efforts to provide school choice opportunity
scholarships to poor black parents so they can take their children out
of failing schools.
A visit to any black community in this
country will show that these communities are in a crisis. Democrats
have been running these communities for the past 40 years, and the
Socialist policies of the Democrats have turned these communities into
economic and social wastelands. Yet, the Democrats have the gall to
blame Republicans for the deplorable conditions created by the
Democrats.
After getting fed up with what is happening
in black communities run by Democrats, liberal Democrat Juan Williams
felt moved to write a book called: Enough: The Phony Leaders, Dead-end Movements, and Culture of Failure That Are Undermining Black America.
So, in the face of the devastating
conditions in black communities created by the Democrats, the only
thing blacks can find to be upset about is the fact that Republican
presidential candidates won't show up for a debate hosted by a far
left-wing Democrat? I am mystified.
